Let me first phrase my frustrations and apologies for the lack of posts lately... I was sicker than a dog for about a week, got behind in my training, summer course, housework, and social life. It was an absolute disaster. Amongst that craziness I still have yet to clear my pantry because my mother flooded me with bags of groceries to help with a sick stomach. Everything from applesauce, pudding, soup, eggs, etc. etc. Thusly, I'm in the process of eating that up so I don't waste groceries. With gas over $4 a gallon, and the price of groceries itself, you can't waste food! Especially if you're unemployed like I am... every dollar counts, folks.
So thusly, I am pushed back for a bit until I can regain control of my life again. Almost there. I scrubbed my apartment, caught up with dreaded Pharmacology, and have attempted some form of exercise in my apartment...hence "Sit Ups" being a part of the title. Dear god. I need to get myself back in shape. Anyone else not able to move the next day? In the moment I feel like I am one of those super fit ladies on an 80s fitness tape, and the next day I feel like a post-menopausal, arthritic woman who has had three kids.
And then comes the booze part... My friend went back to Montana...so a three day going away party full of beer bongs and shots sort of took over my life for awhile. Hell of a lot of fun, but jeepers.
At least I did go camping and hike around for a day...worked off some of that right?
Needless to say, I've fallen of my wagon and got dragged along for awhile... HOWEVER- you can always get back on! So here we go... Time to attempt a run later today in 90 degree weather. I may or may not die, but at least it's a step in the right direction.

Let's Have Real Talk
It's two in the morning...why on earth am I awake? Well, rain is pounding against my apartment windows, and for some reason I decided to take a two hour nap starting after 8 o'clock... And then there's the fact that my mind is going 1000 mph as usual: I need to clean my apartment.. I apartment sit for a friend tomorrow... I need to order a dress for my best friend's wedding... I wonder what happens on the next episode of Arrested Development... I really need a job... etc. etc. And then there's the topic that I have been avoiding as much as possible: My body.
I had a moment today, and I think we have all been here: That dreaded moment when you catch yourself in your full length mirror before a shower. "Dear god...really???" is what my facial expression nearly screamed as I squinted at myself, hoping that every flaw I analyzed was because my cheap mirror is dirty and I need to clean (as stated earlier). But it wasn't. But HOW? I have been running...well jogging. I haven't been eating that bad...but I failed to count the snacks at night or after a night of drinking... But maybe it's from stress! And lack of sleep! After all I am in nursing school...and then it hit me. I have been completely lying to myself.
Don't get me wrong, I'm not writing this blog for validation or compliments, and I don't think that I'm morbidly obese and need to do some crazy crash diet. HOWEVER--> I miss feeling sexy. And fit. And I looked at pictures from my senior year of high school where I thought I was fat, and I actually looked my best. Why settle for being "OK" in my weight range when I could feel fabulous?? Not to mention if I'm going to be a nurse, I need to practice what I preach. Obesity, heart disease and diabetes could be my family's last name, and I don't want any of it. I want to push myself, be in shape, and ultimately, improve my health. Wouldn't mind looking killer in a bikini by the end of summer too... After all, I'm 21. Heck, the cover of the Sports Illustrated Swimsuit Edition 2013 chick is 20. I may never be tan or on the cover of anything, but I can feel just as fabulous! I would much rather being facing this journey now than ten years from now!
So this blog is to hold me accountable. Enough of the boozing, over eating, stressed out, excuse making girl. And bring on the "Size Sassy" (as my mother puts it) chick!
------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So here's the plan:
I'm starting the Paleo diet. No more processed garbage, quick meals, mac and cheese, or anything that any busy college student goes to out of shear laziness, or in a drunken stupor. So in the next few days I'm going to clear out the pantry, and go grocery shopping.
Which brings me to my next point...no more booze. I am by no means an alcoholic, but this is going to be hard facing my first summer being 21, and having the best group of people surrounding me, always ready to party.
Next: Get on a sleep schedule. Sleep is so important to good health, weight maintenance and stress management... all things that I definitely need in my life.
Then it comes down to a consistent exercise plan to get myself back in shape. My biggest challenge here is pacing myself, and not going too hard and then beating myself up over my lack of performance when I wear down.
Lastly, I need to be patient and positive. I think most women have this problem, but it's definitely something I need to get a grip of...
-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------
So basically this blog is to keep myself accountable. I want to change my lifestyle, not focus on a number. I want to keep my curves, because let's face it, having curves absolutely rocks. My main angle here is to become a better person, and encourage and hear from others who are doing the same thing.
Now that this is all out in the open I can get some sleep... be on the lookout for my next post when I get my groceries and take my starting measurements. :)
